The character of Roderigo in Othello, The Moore of Venice
The tragedy of Othello is one of the few works tragic that I could read it without takeoff. The character that I chose within the play was Roderigo. Roderigo is a Venetian gentleman, friend of Iago that uses him for their evil plans and hopeful suitor to Desdemona.
At the beginning of the work we see as Roderigo driven by jealousy goes to the house of Brabancio, father of Desdemona, and informs him about the wedding of his daughter Desdemona with the Moor Othello, which was not approved by Brabancio. Other success of the work was the evils plans of Iago, which used Roderigo involving him in a murder. Roderigo is trick by him, he thinks that Casio is an obstacle to conquer Desdemona, accepts, but fails to kill him. Roderigo stabbed by Iago, dies before confessing the truth. Also is revealed in the work that Roderigo writes letters confessing the plans of Iago for Othello. This play an important role, as a result of this is discovered the truth about the evil fillings of Iago.
I chose this character because it represents as a weak human being can be adversely affected. In the case of Roderigo these weaknesses are presented in feelings such as jealousy, greed and selfishness. I think that Roderigo was so eager to fulfil their greed to be blinded in the moment when he accepted be part of a murder. In conclusion Roderigo was a character used by Iago to fulfil their evil desires.
